Building Smart Cities From Scratch
A Dumb Approach to Urbanisation

 




> In the last two decades, we have seen a growing appetite in cities wanting to become ‘smart’, with some having the ambitious goal to be the ‘smartest’ city in the world. Whilst the term smart city has gained wider currency, its definition is still not clear. What really is ‘smart’ in the context of 21st century cities? is yet to be understood, however, this term is proliferating in many sectors with no agreement upon a definition amongst different professions, and is often replaced with alternatives such as intelligent, resilient, transparent, sustainable or digital.
